About Saul Good Gift Co. Vancouver BC Canada

gift_box_recycled_cardboard_saul_good_corporate_gift_basket.jpgCorporate gift giving is all about building relationships, happy healthy ones. The conventional gift basket, corporate gift and promotional products industries are incredibly wasteful. In North America alone, over 5 million gifts baskets get sent every year, many of which end up in the trash, headed to landfill or collecting dust. Promotional 'swag' is for the most part garbage, little trinkets that people throw away almost imediately. It's our goal to help companies give out gifts and promotional products that have meaningful memorable stories attached to them. Gifts that communicate values for health, community and the environmental are an easy way to be memorable, honoring and building relationships in a meaninful way. Be smart, be suave, be effective. Gift gifts that are Saul Good!

Rules of the conventional gift basket industry

Saul Good is challenging convention and the rules set forth in the gift basket business:

1) Gift baskets are sent in baskets

2) Size is value

3) Gifts need to look beautiful

Saul Good challenges rules #1 and #2 and keeps rule #3. Through the design of an attractive gift box, which can double as a shipping box, we've been able to reduce packaging waste by 66% compared to conventional gift basket businesses. Easy to recycle almost anywhere our cardboard gift boxes are great for storage as well after people enjoy their Saul Good gift.

Size is value. Who needs any more of those little jams or mustards sitting around, cluttering up your cupboards and refridgerator? The gift basket industry has created an industry unto itself manufacturing little miniature 'specialty' 'gourmet' products that nobody really wants, uses or enjoys. What's the point? Little products are cheap meaning more margin for gift basket companies. The consequence? Extra packaging and filler to make little things look big. Wrap the basket in cellophane and add a giant fluffy ribbon and you've got what's perceived as a great gift of beauty. Saul Good doesn't think so and we hope you agree. Our clean urban design gifts another perspective, gift boxes filled with premium, local, organic, artisan and fair trade products that look and taste great. No either or. No compromises. It's all good!

The early days

gift_basket_saul_good_march_2007.jpgSaul launched Saul Good while working on his MBA in Sustainable Business at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI) in the fall of 2006. Start up costs were financed by using his student line of credit while business development work was completed as part of his course work. By April 2007 Saul was building the business full time, growing the business from his bedroom, to the spare room, spilling out into the living and dining room. When pallets of products were being dropped off on the front lawn the time came grow out of the house. In January 2009 Saul Good moved into a shared warehouse and office space with Eclipse Awards in the emerging Strathcona Green Zone in Vancouver, BC.
